Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday June 5th 2008 at 7pm in Easton Village Hall.PRESENT: John Harris (Vice Chairman), Bob Banham, Penny Flemons, Shirley Howell, Elaine Labram, Bill Loader, Paul Moffatt, Sarah Robinson, Eric Thompson. Joyce Edgell (Clerk). 06.1 APOLOGY: Steve Gapper 06.2 MINUTES of LAST MEETING The minutes of the meeting held on 1st May 2008 were approved signed. 06.3 REPORTS from COUNTY COUNCILLOR and CITY COUNCILLOR Jackie Porter reported that extra car parking in Alresford has been agreed. Having checked on the High Court decision on the Chilcomb BOAT, no BOAT in our parish will be affected. Amey’s new contract is not going to plan and is slow to get under way. The travellers at Itchen Down will leave on 17th June. Jackie is having a meeting on 11th June re the lighting at Shepherds Field. Some lighting will be switched off. JP thanked Penny Flemons and Ken Thomas for their inputs at the Avington Sewage Treatment Works hearing. This application has been refused. Neil Baxter reported that the Blissfields Pop Festival has been cancelled. The Sanctuary Pop Festival in August has been approved by the licensing committee. PF asked to meet Patrick Aust re the possibility of the Avington Sewage being pumped to the Itchen Abbas works in Northington Road. Neil will arrange this. 06.4 MATTERS ARISING ACTION a) B3047 Footpath-Ongoing b) Old School Field EL has quotes for play equipment on the Old School Field. The possibility of a boules piste on the field was discussed. c) Shepherds Field Lighting-see County Councillor’s report. 06.5 PARISH COUNCILLORS’ REPORTS and QUESTIONS BB reported concern re some trees alongside the B3047 at the Trout Farm which are leaning towards the road. JAE has contacted the Trout Farm and asked them to check on the state of the trees. He mentioned the condition of the entrance to KGV where the Gas Board has been working. JH has spoken to the contractors and they have assured him they will make good the damage. BL queried whose responsibility it is to clear ditches outside one’s property. He was told it is the householder’s. He asked if anything was being done about the bridge at Fulling Mill. SR will remind Peter Watson. SR SH said that the grass cutters are damaging the football net at Couch Green. JAE will contact Serco to ask if the net can be lifted. JAE She remarked that a bonfire had been lit on the field. SH will bring to the next meeting suggestions for play equipment for older children. SH PM asked when the footpath from Shepherds Field to the old railway line will be built. SR to contact Neil Broadbent. SR EL reported that the Village 30 meeting for Easton residents will be held on 11th June. She reported that Charlie Yeates has cut the tree on the footpath near the Chestnut Horse. Easton residents have commented on the amount of flood water on the bend near the Chestnut Horse. 06.6 FINANCE As only one year’s insurance premium needs to be paid upfront IVPC is happy to sign up for 3 years at the reduced rate.
