Having been given the statement on the above in advance of its publication in the Hampshire Chronicle, Itchen Valley Parish Council has been discussing the implications of what is proposed. We understand the need to render safe the ash trees near the river, also the need to let the river and the adjacent SSSI recover and to see that both remain protected. However although we have kept discussion confidential within the Parish Council we are well aware that rumours and possible misinformation are beginning to arise.
It would help us if we could have a meeting between a small number of Parish Council members and the other parties involved in the work that is due to be carried out. We would be happy to meet in person suitably distanced or by electronic means. (We use Zoom and would be able to act as hosts). This would enable us to understand in more detail what are the problems, how it is intended to address them and what is in the best interests of all to preserve and enjoy this rare and valuable environment for the long-term future.
Can you please let me know of suitable dates when such a meeting could be held and your preference for a meeting in person or electronically.
For and on behalf of Itchen Valley Parish Council,
Yours sincerely,
Patrick Appleby, Chairman.
